Phase II

The Cardiac Rehab offered by Sparta Community Hospital starts with Phase II.  Phase II begins shortly after your discharge from the hospital. The main facets of Phase II are monitored exercise, education and counseling. The exercise portion of Phase II is designed to strengthen your cardiac efficiency.  Increases in your level of exercise will happen gradually and are based on your tolerance, monitored heart rate and blood pressure. Registered nurses with advanced cardiac training will conduct the exercise sessions, which last approximately one hour, three times a week for a total of 12-36 sessions.

A person can also be admitted into this program without participating in the phase II if they have a history of cardiac disease but do not fit into the other diagnostic categories needed for phase II, they would also qualify if their physician wanted them to be more closely monitored in an exercise program.
