Laboratory Services:

Sparta Community Hospital provides, 24 hour a day, 7 day a week full Laboratory services to the patients of our service area. The Board and Administration of SCH insure that the Laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment that allows testing quality equal to that provided by the "big city hospitals" without the drive and hassle that are typically associated with the larger facilities.

The Laboratory at SCH has the technology and expertise to perform approximately 97% of the tests ordered by the physicians. The small percentage of tests that are not performed in-house are referred to a qualified reference laboratory.

The Laboratory staff operates under the direction of a Board Certified Pathologist, Dr. Dolph Haege. Dr Haege is associated with Christian Northeast Hospital in St Louis, which has 8 Board Certified Pathologists on staff. The diverse skills and knowledge base provided by this group of professionals once again insures that the patients of the SCH service area are provided with the highest quality of pathology services possible.

The Laboratory at SCH is inspected every two years by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) to verify that the services rendered abide by the current regulations and current best practices of the profession.
