COVID-19 Update 12.27.2021

Good afternoon, team!

This morning on, the 9 a.m. phone call, Joann thanked everyone for working together as a team, as we amp up for a potential surge in positive COVID-19 cases.  She mentioned how important teamwork is as we continue to operate all service lines, with the increase in testing, treating, and caring for patients with COVID-19.  We also heard about the extremely busy day that Convenient Care on Sunday.  What we have learned since then is that we are already seeing a high number of patients positive with COVID-19, as well as influenza.

These flu cases coupled with the COVID-19 surge is putting pressure on our already stressed healthcare system.  We say system, because this is not just local to Sparta Community Hospital; it is affecting hospitals we work with across the region.  On Friday, we were unable to find a bed for a critical, non-covid patient, even after calling FIFTY hospitals.  FIFTY!

We understand that you’re tired of hearing about COVID-19, we all are.  However, we need your continued help to keep our patients, community, and workforce well.  Small things that each of us can do that will protect each other from all viruses are:

  • Wear your mask
  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Covers your coughs and sneezes
  • Social distance
  • Clean high-touch surfaces frequently

Stay well, my friends!
