Karen Chamness, PA-C, recently celebrated 25 years of service at Sparta Community Hospital’s Steeleville Clinic.  She started at the clinic on November 25, 1996 with Mark Preuss, MD.

Karen previously worked 10 years at Chester Memorial Hospital in lab services before deciding to attend St. Louis University where she graduated with her Physician Assistant Certification in August of 1996.

“I’m happy to have worked my entire PA career at Steeleville Clinic with Dr. Preuss.”  States Karen. “I knew I wanted to do rural healthcare when I entered PA school and feel very fortunate to have been able to work for Sparta Hospital all these years doing what I love.”

Karen and her husband Rick have 2 sons. Josh and Chris are both married to 2 wonderful girls.  Josh and his wife have blessed them with 4 grandchildren and 1 grand dog. Chris and his wife have 2 grand dogs.  She loves to spend time with family and travel with them and her girlfriends, especially to the beach and on Carnival cruises.  She also can be found wherever her son, Chris, is playing music once or twice a week.

Sparta Community Hospital and clinic staff honored Karen with a celebration and a 25-year pin.

Congratulations on 25 years with SCH & Quality Healthcare Clinics Karen!
