That’s exactly the spirit behind Sparta Community Hospital’s 8-Week Winter Wellness Challenge, kicking off January 8, 2026. Led by Courtney Johnson, Registered Dietitian, and Larry Bernardoni, Fitness Supervisor, this program is designed for real people, real schedules, and real progress.
And here’s the best part: You’re not competing against anyone else — just yourself. Every step you take is your step forward, and we’re here to cheer you on the entire way.
Why Winter Is the Perfect Time to Start Fresh
While many people wait for spring or summer to focus on wellness, winter is actually a powerful time to build habits that last. With the right support, momentum, and accountability, small wins can lead to big change — and that’s the heart of this challenge.

Each week, participants will engage in activities designed to educate, motivate, and inspire:
Weekly Wellness Education (30 minutes)
Learn practical strategies for nutrition, movement, and lifestyle habits that support long-term health.
Weekly Nutritional & Physical Challenges
Simple, achievable tasks that build confidence and consistency.
Weekly Weigh-Ins & Progress Tracking
Stay accountable and celebrate your progress as it happens.
BMI Tracking at Weeks 1, 4, & 8
See measurable change as your hard work pays off.
One-on-One Nutritional Consultation
Personalized guidance to help you set goals that match your lifestyle.
Physical Assessment Rating (PAR) Testing
A helpful baseline to understand your starting point and your growth.
No membership is required. No special equipment needed. Just bring your motivation — even if it’s small — and we’ll help you grow it week by week.
