On a lighter note, this snow is perfect for building a snowman!
Building a snowman can be tricky, but knowing a little science can help! The best snow for snowmen is moist or wet snow because it’s sticky and holds together well. Snow that’s too dry is powdery and won’t stick, and slushy snow is too watery to hold a shape.
The best snow comes when it’s around 32°F, which is just below freezing. That’s when the snowflakes have lots of little branches that act like glue to stick together.
Here’s how to build your perfect snowman:
- Find a flat spot in the shade so your snowman doesn’t melt too quickly.
- Roll three snowballs: one big, one medium, and one small. Stack them biggest to smallest.
- Keep your snowman’s base wide and strong to stop it from falling over.
Remember, don’t make it too big, or it might get wobbly. Now grab your hat, scarf, and carrot, and have fun making Frosty!
