Believe in Better Detection: New Endoscopy Technology at Sparta Community Hospital

At Sparta Community Hospital, we Believe in Better—better technology, better access, and better outcomes for our patients and families. That’s why we’ve invested in advanced endoscopy equipment to expand access to lifesaving cancer screenings. This purchase was made possible through the WE CAN Cancer Initiative, supported by the National Rural Health Resource Center’s (The Center) Delta Region Community Health Systems Development (DRCHSD) Program and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
Believe in Better Technology
The new Fujifilm ELUXEO Endoscopy System is designed to help physicians detect problems earlier, when treatment is most effective. With sharper imaging, AI-driven detection, and shorter procedures, this technology improves accuracy and patient comfort while ensuring families across Randolph County and surrounding communities can access high-quality screenings close to home.
Believe in Better Health
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the United States, and our region is especially impacted. For many rural families, screening often means traveling long distances or facing delays in diagnosis. By offering advanced endoscopy technology locally, Sparta Community Hospital helps patients Believe in Better Health—removing barriers to care and ensuring that lifesaving screenings are available right here at home.
Earlier detection means better survival rates, less invasive treatments, and healthier families. For our community, it also means fewer missed workdays, less financial strain from travel, and greater peace of mind knowing care is close when it’s needed most. This is how we help our patients and families Believe in Better every day.
Believe in Better Access
The need for this upgrade was first identified by our surgical team, who recognized the limitations of older equipment. By listening to their input and acting on their concerns, hospital leadership ensured both patients and providers now have the tools necessary for earlier detection, more accurate diagnosis, and better outcomes.
Endoscopy and colonoscopy services are currently available three days a week through Gastroenterologist Dr. Giuseppe Aliperti and General Surgeons Dr. Ziya Baghmanli and Dr. Margret DeGuzman.

At Sparta Community Hospital, every investment we make is guided by one goal: to help our patients and families Believe in Better—better technology, better care, and better health for our community.
Start with Your Annual Wellness Visit
The first step toward prevention is scheduling your annual wellness visit. These visits give you and your provider the opportunity to review your health history, discuss your risk factors, and determine which screenings—like colonoscopies—are right for you. Many insurance plans, including Medicare, cover an annual wellness visit at no cost, making it one of the easiest ways to take charge of your health.
By beginning with a wellness visit, you can catch concerns early, stay on track with recommended screenings, and build a stronger foundation for lifelong health.
