Sparta Community Hospital is offering a one-day Safe Sitter® class aimed at equipping 11 to 13-year-olds with crucial skills to care for younger children. Participants will enhance their knowledge and confidence by learning child care, basic first aid, CPR, rescue skills, and personal safety in a fun and engaging environment.

The class is scheduled for Friday, May 31, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sparta Community Hospital’s Broadway Plaza, Auxiliary Room A.

“Leaving your young children under the supervision of a babysitter or an older sibling can sometimes be an anxiety-inducing situation. You can never predict what might occur in your absence,” Certified Instructor Jennifer Barbour explains. “However, when the babysitter has completed the Safe Sitter program, you can feel confident knowing they are equipped with fundamental babysitting skills and crucial life-saving knowledge in case of emergencies.”

With over 650,000 graduates nationwide and more than 150 documented cases of life-saving interventions, the program has been successful in preparing young caregivers. Sparta Community Hospital is among the 850 registered Safe Sitter teaching locations in the U.S.

The course fee of $10.00 per student covers a comprehensive curriculum, infant/child CPR training (non-certified), and lunch. Space is limited.  RSVP to Jennifer Barbour NO LATER than Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 618-443-1467 or email barbour.jennifer@spartahospital.com.
