The Sparta Health and Wellness Foundation is proudly sponsoring a one-of-a kind opportunity to allow students to step into the world of surgery.

At Sparta Community Hospital, we Believe in Betterbetter care, better access, and better futures. By partnering with the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, we’re able to bring you this hands-on surgical experience is designed to inspire the next generation of healthcare leaders, giving students the chance to learn, explore, and imagine what’s possible.

Students will practice real-world skills using a laparoscopic simulation box with an endoscope setup. You’ll rotate through interactive skill stations that challenge your fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, and visualization techniques — the very same abilities surgeons use every day in the operating room.

From mastering surgical instruments to exploring the science of arthroscopy and minimally invasive surgery, this event offers a unique window into modern medicine.

You’ll also dive into the innovation behind surgical tool design, discovering how instruments work together and imagining the next generation of breakthroughs.

Then it’s time for the spotlight: the Surgical Skills Showdown! This friendly competition will test your speed, precision, and accuracy as you compete for the title of Surgical Skills Champion.

To cap off the day, you and your parent will enjoy a guided tour of Sparta Community Hospital, where you’ll explore healthcare career paths and meet the professionals who make them possible.

Don’t miss this incredible chance to sharpen your skills, fuel your curiosity, and take your first step toward a “better” future in medicine!
