Sparta Community Hospital is being enhanced thanks to Sparta Community Hospital Auxiliary’s Tree of Hope campaign and The Caring Touch Gift Shop with four new additional high-technology monitoring systems which play a vital role in the care of patients. The BeneVision N12 Patient Monitor system continuously monitors a patient’s vital signs such as oxygen saturation levels, heart rate, blood pressure, and respiratory rate, and transmits the data to the central monitoring system in the nurses station.

According to Lori Clinton, Sparta Community Hospital Chief Nurse Executive, these additional devices could not have come at a better time due to the increase in patients requiring respiratory care. “Our nursing staff is thrilled to have these additional monitors that allows us to do continuous pulse oximetry on COVID positive patients, as well as other patients who require continuous oxygen saturation monitoring, such as patients receiving monoclonal antibody treatments for COVID-19.”

The upgraded monitor will improve the continuity of care for interdepartmental transfers.  “A separate monitor is no longer needed,” states Clinton. “The nurse is able to pop-out a smaller, wireless monitor that can stay with the patient during the transfer.”

“I am so pleased that the Auxiliary was able to provide this vital technology for our hospital,” said Peggy Petkas, Tree of Hope Chairperson. “We are deeply grateful to the community for helping us achieve our goal, especially through the COVID-19 pandemic.”
