Sparta Community Hospital is excited to welcome Dr. David Zhu, an Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist, to the Specialty Clinic at North Campus Healthcare located at 1300 N. Market Street in Sparta.
Dr. Zhu, a lifelong athlete and sports enthusiast, brings a wealth of expertise and experience to help patients recover from injuries and return to their active lifestyles. His clinic and corresponding surgeries will be available on Fridays, expanding access to orthopedic care at Sparta to two days a week.
Patients can expect Dr. Zhu to be a committed partner throughout their care journey, from injury diagnosis to recovery. “As both a physician and an engineer, my goal is to develop relationships with patients to understand their goals and expectations and work together to create a treatment plan that best suits their needs,” said Dr. Zhu. “I want to provide my patients with the most effective, innovative, and efficient treatments and techniques to help them overcome their injuries.”
Dr. Zhu’s impressive educational background and hands-on experience reflect his dedication to both engineering and medicine. He earned his undergraduate degree from MIT, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. He then pursued his medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Zhu completed his training with an orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. During his fellowship, he served as a team doctor for professional sports teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) and the Cleveland Guardians (MLB), gaining invaluable experience in treating complex orthopedic and sports-related injuries.
