Sparta Community Hospital has been honored as a Top 5 Hospital in Overall Performance in the 2024 Neighbors Helping Neighbor Awards by the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) for its outstanding performance among ICAHN’s 58 member hospitals.
“We are extremely proud of being recognized as a Top 5 Hospital,” shares Joann Emge, CEO of Sparta Community Hospital. “We are especially honored to be the sole honoree of this award south of Interstate 64. It speaks volumes to the dedication, expertise, and innovation of our team in providing exceptional care to our community.”
This significant acknowledgment is the first of its kind by ICAHN during National Hospital Week, highlighting fourteen remarkable small rural hospitals for their outstanding quality, operational, and financial achievements. “
The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Awards are determined through the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX©, a highly respected evaluation tool now in its 14th year. This comprehensive assessment is widely regarded as the industry’s most comprehensive and impartial evaluation of rural hospital performance, utilizing publicly available data to evaluate and monitor various aspects that impact hospital operations and finances.
The announcement of the award winners was made on Friday, May 17, 2024, during a virtual ceremony led by ICAHN Board President Karissa Turner, who also serves as the CEO of Wabash General Hospital.
“Across the state of Illinois, our rural hospitals work diligently each day to provide quality healthcare to the communities they serve,” said Pat Schou, Executive Director, Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network. “We are thrilled to be able to introduce the Neighbors Helping Neighbors award program, and recognize these facilities, their leadership teams, and their staff for their commitment and dedication.”
