Cheryl Adams, At-Home Health Care of Sparta Community Hospital’s administrator, attended the IL Homecare and Hospice (IHHC) Annual Conference.  This year’s theme was Mission Possible relating to the never ending changes occurring in the home care and hospice world.    Adams’, the IHHC president, gave a welcome address during the business meeting stating: As we look at the changes and challenges of home care and hospices –life as we know it loses meaning because it does not resemble business as we knew it.

Where do we find the strength and sustenance to go on?  There is only one choice – go within and dig deep. We have invincible human spirit as an industry – that has been proven as we reflect on the challenges we have faced the last few years.

Now our future includes a new a payment system (PDGM), value based purchasing and Review Choice Demonstration.    We can do this.  We can dig deep and be leaders.   Socrates said “the secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old but on building the new”.     We in IL are very fortunate to have an association that travels this journey with us  making the mission possible.”   Adam’s was also one of the keynote speakers which dove into the topic of Care Transitions.
