Sparta Community Hospital is very pleased to announce that Christy Otten, MBA, BSMLS, MT (AMT) has joined their team as the new laboratory manager.  She joins the hospital’s lab staff of professionals with 20 years of laboratory experience, serving as an Assistant Lab Director for 4 plus years.

She received her Associate of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology from John A. Logan; a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, TN, and Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from Campbellsville University, Campbellsville, KY.

Christy is certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists and a Medical Technologist, qualified to work under the title of medical laboratory scientist, by American Medical Technologists.  A medical lab scientist typically has more education and is able to perform more involved lab work. A medical lab technician performs more of the routine lab work for medical staff.

Born and raised in Chester, Christy continues to reside there with her two children, Jordan and Jasmine.  She has 2 rescue dogs, Carly and Ivy and loves to spend her personal time watching her kids play sports and travel.
